Music enriches the life and nourishes the soul of the performer and the audience. Therefore the
El Segundo Concert Band believes that instrumental music properly plays a vital role for the 21st
century family. At its noblest, music is an enriching and nourishing bond that brings families
and communities together.
The Band demonstrates the power of live music by entertaining and educating families in the
community. It does this by:
Performing interactively in which the audience becomes educated about the music or
instruments being played and creatively participates in the entertainment.
Creating or sponsoring programs that educate family members how to play, how to nurture,
or how to listen to instrumental music.
This unique concert band is in its sixth season and provides an outlet for amateur and retired
professional musicians in the area. The band now boasts over 35 members and represents a wide
range of ages and occupations. We are a multi-generational group that encourages family
participation. Among our membership there are several families that participate; brothers, sisters,
wives, husbands, children, and grandchildren. Our community goal is to help foster the
appreciation and education in the musical arts for both the adult and student population of El
Segundo.
We encourage a fun, nurturing environment in which musicians can express themselves and grow
musically. Our 35-member band consists of woodwind and brass instruments as well as a full
percussion section. We enjoy playing a variety of music from Bach to the Beatles.
